Get started with Samtykkr

1. 1Install Samtykkr from WordPress.org, or upload the plugin under Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin.
2. 2Activate the plugin.
3. 3Go to Settings, Samtykkr, and complete the four-step wizard: language, services, appearance, preview.
4. 4Activate. The banner now shows for visitors, with law-correct defaults already in place.

Samtykkr blocks all non-essential scripts and cookies until the visitor has consented. It does this in two layers:

• Native gating: scripts you add yourself are marked with a data attribute and activated without a page reload once the category is granted.
• Automatic blocking: scripts and iframes from known tracking services are neutralised before they run, based on a curated list, and restored on consent.

Google Consent Mode v2 is set to denied for everything except the necessary, and updated to granted when the visitor consents. We run Basic mode, so no data is sent to Google before consent.

Each choice is stored in a data-minimised consent log in your own WordPress database, as proof. Raw IP is never stored. The data never leaves your server.

Everything is controlled from Settings, Samtykkr:

• Wizard: choose language (Bokmål or Nynorsk, with an English fallback), which services the site uses, and appearance. Accept and Reject are always the same size; that cannot be changed.
• Custom banner text: override the intro with your own wording, for example if you do not track at all.
• Owner information: name, address, company number and contact, shown in the cookie declaration.
• Duration: how long a consent lasts before it is asked again (default 180 days).

Place the auto-generated, layered cookie declaration on a page with the shortcode [samtykkr_erklaering], or use the Samtykkr cookie declaration block in the block editor.

The declaration is generated from the services you have enabled and updates itself. It contains owner and contact details, what a cookie is, how long they are stored, how to reject or delete them, and how to change consent. A permanent Manage cookies button is always available in the lower left.

Pro is a separate, paid plugin that installs alongside the free one. Buy a licence at app.samtykkr.no and you receive a licence key. Install the Pro plugin and paste the key under Settings, Samtykkr Pro. Pro updates itself from the cloud, so you never download a new version manually. From the cloud dashboard you control the banner's appearance and language and push a customer profile out to each site. One account and key covers up to the number of sites in your plan; add new sites and the central configuration reaches them. Pro adds:

• Privacy and cookies as readable, tabbed documents right inside the banner.
• Scanner that reviews your pages and suggests tracker categorisation (right in the Pro settings).
• Sales-terms template for webshops, edited in the dashboard and shown on the shop's own domain.
• Ready-made footer pages in one click: Privacy, Cookies and Terms (shortcodes [samtykkr_personvern], [samtykkr_cookies], [samtykkr_vilkar]).
• Per-site appearance (colour, theme, position, language) controlled centrally per customer.
• Automatic updates of the curated tracker database.
• Audit report for documentation.
• Central management from the cloud dashboard: appearance, language and a customer profile per site.
• Multi-site and consolidated billing for agencies.
• White-label: remove or replace the badge. Agency and enterprise only; Pro and Professional always show the Secured by Samtykkr badge.

Only aggregate consent counts are sent to the cloud. Individual consent records never leave the site. pricing get in touch.
